Live simply: Let others live - February 2007

In this Comment, Edward Echlin argues that it is time for people in the global North to recognise the impact that our unsustainable lifestyles are having on people and poverty in the global South.

Taking the environment as his theme, he shows that what we do - and don't do - in our lives has a direct impact on people living elsewhere in the earth community. The message is simple: live simply, because all things are connected; live sustainably, so that all people can have sufficient for their needs; and live in solidarity with the world's poor, by taking action for the change that is needed to sustain our common future.
