HIV and AIDS Programme Adviser (two-year placement), based in Harare, Zimbabwe

Please note that for this placement we are only able to consider applicants who are fluent in Shona and / or Ndebele.

You should have a medical degree and/or qualification in Public Health, Health Management or any other relevant discipline. You will have a minimum of three years’ experience in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of HIV and AIDS programmes, including workplace interventions and initiatives. You should also have substantial experience in disease management programmes, and in developing training materials regarding HIV and AIDS for information, education and communication purposes.

Excellent ICT skills; ability to troubleshoot problems between workers and their employers; Up to date knowledge of HIV and AIDS and new information emerging on the issue; of HIV opportunistic infections and related medication, and the ability to train staff and others in prevention and behavioural change regarding HIV and AIDS are essential. You should also have an interest in health and communication related applications; good interpersonal, communications and report writing skills; willingness and ability to work as part of a team and to share skills, and ability to plan and implement own work with limited support. A readiness to work with people with widely differing belief systems and personal circumstances; willingness to undertake road travel in Zimbabwe and spend time away from Harare at, for example, border posts, and demonstrable commitment towards the aims and objectives of NECTOI are also essential.

Demonstrable competences in Public Health and/or Health Management; previous experience of working within the transport sector - including with truck drivers - on HIV and AIDS programmes, experience of working on regional HIV and AIDS programmes; experience in fundraising, and a driving licence are highly desirable.
