Progressio is a member of the following UK based networks with an advocacy element: JustShare is a coalition of Churches and Christian organisations committed to global economic justice. JustShare draws its vision and values from the Christian faith and views the extent of inequality in today's global economy as contrary to God's will. Its original purpose was to provide a distinctive Christian presence in the City of London, alongside the May Day demonstrations. The livesimply project is based on a radical idea, that God calls us to live simply. The network is asking people to look hard at their lifestyles and to choose to live simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the poor. The idea for livesimply comes from a prophetic document written by Pope Paul VI 'On the Development of Peoples' (Populorum Progressio). The document explains what the Church was saying about the growing poverty and injustice of the developing world. It is not just about money, it is a challenge to reflect and take action in order to work for justice. The National Justice and Peace Network (NJPN) exists to encourage work for Justice and Peace by promoting liaison and communication among diocesan groups. Its members are representatives from diocesan Justice and Peace Commissions or groups, affiliated agencies and organisations working in the field of Justice and Peace. Although both the roots and ethos of the network are strongly Catholic, many of the hundreds of small J&P groups around the country now function ecumenically and some are now seeking to operate pan-faith. Much of the work of the Network links into the campaigns organised by affiliated agencies. As well as working on global issues like the cancellation of third world debt, groups and commissions around the country are involved in national and local issues such as credit unions, housing and homelessness, supporting refugees and asylum seekers and environmental issues. The Trade Justice Movement is campaigning for trade justice not free trade, to ensure trade rules are weighted to benefit poor people and the environment. The movement believes that everyone has the right to feed their families, make a decent living and protect their environment. TJM is supported by more than 80 member organisations including trade unions, aid agencies, environment and human rights campaigns, fairtrade organisations, faith and consumer groups. The Consortium represents the collective will of UK based international development NGOs, academic institutions, government agencies and other political and civil society actors to work together to understand and mitigate the impact of AIDS in developing countries. It provides opportunities for the many diverse concerns and interests to come together on a regular basis to discuss issues raised by the impact of the AIDS epidemic. Each agency brings its own experience and knowledge to be shared and used to help all members improve their response to the epidemic. An initiative of consortium is the AIDSPortal global information sharing network. It offers easy access to the latest research, case studies, news stories and jobs, as well as a global directory of contact information for people and organisations.
