Progressio works in the following areas in Ecuador:

Civil society participation

• Concentrating on partner organisations such as indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian people's groups, and women's groups.
• Acknowledging Ecuador's multicultural character and taking this into account in development work.
• Working with civil organisations to promote democratisation of communications, and supporting citizens' rights to freedom of expression.
• Supporting capacity-building initiatives, strengthening local organisations and encouraging the formation of alliances.

Sustainable environment

• Strengthening indigenous knowledge and technology in agriculture and in the management of natural resources.
• Promoting environmental education and sustainable management of natural resources.
• Capacity-building project for natural resource management in the Andean region, working with local organisations in coordination with Progressio Ecuador, and financed by the UK National Lottery Charities Board.
• Supporting rural producers to strengthen the management and organisation of production, marketing and sustainable agricultural projects.
