Progressio works in the following areas in the Dominican Republic: Sustainable environmentAgroecology:- Training small-scale farmers in sustainable farming techniques, peasant-to-peasant teaching methods and appropriate technologies.
- Strengthening the capacities of local people to manage ecological and fair trade certification processes.
- Training internal inspectors so that they can carry out internal inspections in their own communities
- Training agroecological promoters, who are be responsible for replicating their knowledge in the community.
- Capacity building on establishing sustainable agroforestry systems.
- Promotion, awareness raising and education on environmental issues.
Marketing:- Strengthening local capacities in the management of collective marketing processes, and administration of production systems.
- Support and capacity building in the management of small credits for members.
Civil society participation- Supporting women's organisations, lobbying and advocacy skills training, institutional capacity-building and the promotion of new technologies.
- Haitian Dominicans: the Haitian Dominican population comprises the most marginalised communities in the country. This work includes training in institutional strengthening and capacity building, promotion of lobbying and advocacy skills, and training in social and political rights.
