our partnersJUNACASUnites 101 families of small and medium-sized farmers in the mountainous area of the province of Salcedo. It currently has organic and fair trade certification for its plantations. Their main crops are cacao, coffee, avocado and sapodilla plums. COMUS (Colectiva Mujer y Salud)The Women and Health Collective is a non-profit-making organisation which has been working since 1984 to defend the sexual and reproductive rights of Dominican women in rural and urban areas. The collective offers services of integral care and health (physical, mental and emotional), training, produces information materials and promotes public debate on gender issues. MUDHA (Movimiento de Mujeres Dominico-Haitianas)The movement of Dominican-Haitian women is formed by Dominican women of Haitian descendent and works for women and children of Haitian descendent in the DR with a gender based approach. They execute development projects that cover the areas of education, human rights or health. Their actions aim to enhance the living and working conditions of Haitians and/or their descendents in extremely vulnerable areas such as in Bateys (camps where the Haitians or Dominican-Haitians that work in the sugar plantations live, most of the times in deplorable conditions). Jesuit Service for Refugees and Migrants (SJRM )The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support of an international office in Rome. The SJRM work in the Dominican Republic started in 1995, initially responding to the special characteristics of the human rights of forced migrants and later, of refugees, in the Caribbean context in general and in the DR in particular. At present, it is implementing a development project for the protection of migrants rights in the DR through their office in Santo Domingo (Centro Bono), their office in the northern border (Solidaridad Fronteriza in Dajabon and in Solidarite Fwontalye in Wanament in Haiti and final office in Santiago (CEFASA). Solidaridad FronterizaFrontier Solidarity is an organisation working on the northern border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Its mission is to defend the rights of refugees and persons obliged to move across the border. It therefore has headquarters in two frontier towns: Dajabón in the Dominican Republic and Ouanaminthe in Haiti. Fundación para el Desarrollo de Villa Altagracia (FUDEVA - Foundation for the Development of Villa Altagracia)FUDEVA is a civil society organisation which aims to improve the economic, social and cultural situation of the municipality of Altagracia through collaboration and dialogue with the city council and local institutions. Red Jacques Viau and RedovihThe mission of the Dominican-Haitian Encounter Network Jacques Viau is to defend human rights and promote more just migration policies, by advocating for the development, adoption and application of public policies which improve the quality of life of migrants, refugees and vulnerable people, especially people of Haitian origin and their descendants. Fundación SolidaridadThe Solidarity Foundation has since 1998 been uniting grassroots organisations and cooperatives from the Cibao Region. Its aim is to promote and strengthen these organisations so that they can participate in the political and social decisions which affect them at local and national level. Together with Progressio it is carrying out a programme of municipal development in the municipality of Villa González. Centro BonoThe Bono Center promotes a more just and fair society, with participation of the poorest and excluded people as critical and significant individuals. These individuals will then fully assume their duties and rights as citizens and interact with other sectors of society. The Center acts as space for dialogue and discussion, supporting vulnerable populations in their lobby for better development practices and policies, and in the formulation of them. Centro Juan MontalvoThe Juan Montalvo Center promotes education and social investigation with the purpose of developing and empowering community organisations. The Center also encourages and participates in debates and actions centered in the strengthening of the civil society and the fight against poverty. Coalicion de ONG SIDAThe Coalition is an open space for the coordination and management of 47 NGOs working in the area of HIV/AIDS, making it the main representative of NGOs working on this subject in the DR. The coalition aims to promote policies and strategies that contribute to the reduction of the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Asociación Scalabriniana al Servicio de la Movilidad Humana (ASCALA)This association's mission is to improve the quality of life and to protect the human rights of the Dominican, Haitian and Dominican-Haitian population that live in the Bateys, areas of extreme need in terms of public services and sanitation. They look to achieve this through education, legal consultancy and access to health services, including the prevention of HIV and assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS. Mujer e IglesiaWoman and church is an organisation that works with a gender based approach with the purpose of creating a new woman in a society where sexual differences do not justify discrimination against woman. The organization also works to improve the social and economic conditions of women in rural and suburban areas. Centro de Promoción y Solidaridad Humana (CEPROSH)The Center for the Promotion and Human Solidarity Works for community development with a gender based approach and promoting citizen participation in the management of municipalities. It currently works in Puerto Plata municipality implementing a gender equality program. World Vision Dominican RepublicWorld Vision is a Christian humanitarian charity organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. In the DR they work empowering poor and vulnerable communities so they can fully participate in local decision making structures and decide about their own lives. They also work in the areas of health, education and emergency/rehabilitation. Centro Puente – San PonsCentro Puente is an NGO located in the border city of Dajabón and in Wanament, Haiti (as San Pons). It promotes communication, education and intercultural exchanges between the Dominicans and Haitians with the purpose of building friendly relations among both communities.
